We all need to be shown mercy. Sometimes the hardest people to show mercy to are those directly around us. Why is it so hard to show mercy to our husbands, wives, and children, but we can be kind to those we meet at the grocery store? It’s because we don’t know the person, and we will probably never see them again. Kindness and love should be given where its due, regardless of who is involved. The verses below can help us overlook irritations, past hurts, and begin to see how god is working in others.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
